I have been working at the dog spa since 2009 and working with animals for over 15 years. I have 3 fur babies of my own Skye a Staffordshire bull terrier, Lola a French bull dog, Diesel the Whippet and fingers crossed I will have a 4th by the end of September 2020. So I understand how important and special any dog is to their owner.

Grooming has to be the best job i have ever done! That’s why in 2012 when the previous owner asked me if i would like to take over the business i jumped at the chance. It has been very hard work but it’s the best decision I could have made. I have a fantastic client base and love each and every one of the dogs I groom. Dogs are my life and I couldn’t imagine not being around them. Each one is unique and has their own little personality, likes and dislike. Over the past 11years I’ve managed to build up a trust not only with the dogs but there owners too.

I am also very lucky to of found 2 wonderful ladies who work under the dog spa and are as passionate about dogs as I am.

I’m looking forward to many more years of meeting new people and their wonderful dogs.

I have been a professional dog groomer for almost 6 years. I have always had pets which ranged from goldfish, a rat, a cat, the family Cairn Terrier, a horse and now my own Staffy, Ralphie who is 8 years old.
In 2009 I decided to do my City and Guilds Level 2 in dog grooming and set up my own business. I started out as a Mobile Groomer to gain experience and attending Groomer of the Year as a spectator, when the opportunity arose for me to rent a small unit which I converted into a salon I jumped at the chance. It was quite daunting and scary at times as I worked alone, the internet forums and help from other local groomers was invaluable. Sadly I had to close my business 12 months later due to lack of finances as competition was strong and the economic climate meant my business was growing too slowly to continue. When I heard that The Dog Spa were looking for someone to join their team in the spring of 2013 I jumped at the chance to work there as it has always had a brilliant reputation.
Dog grooming is very rewarding knowing that we are making your dog’s look their best and giving helpful advice on how to keep your dog’s coat in tip top condition. I enjoy giving your dog the one on one grooming experience which I feel is really helpful if your dog is a bit nervous or when they are a puppy. I can create a bond which makes your dog feel at ease and relaxed when they come to us.

Though you, the owner will always know your dog the best, it makes me happy to know that they are happy whilst they are with us and hopefully enjoy seeing us as much as we enjoy seeing them.

Gail Vollans – Dog groomer

I have been working at the dog spa for just over 7 years now. I am very passionate about dogs, I managed to wear my parents down in 1975 and progressed from rabbit to dog with my first pedigree pooch costing just £22!

Having moved to this area, I started working at the Dog Spa just two days a week but the demand was so high I have quickly progressed to five days with a growing set of wonderful clients and their even more wonderful dogs!

Like Sam and Claudia, I’m formally trained and update with my Canine First Response to make sure your dogs are in caring and safe hands at all times.
